Come for lunch at the UW Clean Energy Institute. See their working labs.

The Clean Energy Institute (CEI) at the University of Washington was founded in 2013 with funds from the state of Washington. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of a scalable clean energy future that will improve the health and economy of our state, nation, and world.

To accomplish this mission, CEI supports the advancement of next-generation solar energy and battery materials and devices, as well as their integration with systems and the grid. The institute creates the ideas and educates the people needed to generate these innovations, while facilitating the pathways to bring them to market.

Transportation and parking:

Link Light Rail: Link Light Rail to UW Station, then either the 65 (Jackson Park/Wedgewood) or 78 (Laurelhurst/University Village) buses to Mary Gates Drive, then walk to 4625 Union Bay Place NE

Parking: We have a free parking lot directly in front of our building.  There are typically about 10 available spots on any given day. Here is a link to the facility on our campus map:   and on Google maps (with more landmarks):,+Seattle,+WA+98105/@47.6628339,-122.2974417,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x54901485c66a5381:0xee27733e4c64e260!8m2!3d47.6628339!4d-122.295253

In the event that the lot is full street parking can often be found in the surrounding neighborhood.  DO NOT park in neighboring business lots as they are quick to ticket and/or tow.  Parking is also available in lot E1, which is a pay lot that is about a 10 minute walk from our building and usually has plenty of space.  Here are the links to E1:
